The 2011 budgets of Romanian state-owned railway companies CFR Marfa, CFR Calatori and CFR SA say 5,588 employees will be sacked and staff expenses will be cut by 21.8%, 6.5% and 11.6% respectively, according to three draft Government decisions drawn up by the Transport Ministry. read more...

Romanian state-owned railway passenger carrier CFR Calatori reported a 5% drop in traffic in 2010, to 58 million passengers, from 61.07 million, while the state's subsidy was raised by 4%, to 1.15 billion lei (EUR1=RON4.2626), according to the company's preliminary results. read more...

The 30 biggest contracts awarded by the National Motorways and National Roads Company in Romania (CNADNR) in the past four years are worth a total of nearly 1.7 billion euros, but only eight of them, worth more than 400 million euros were for works on motorways or on bypasses.
