TAROM posts 53.56 million lei in 2010 gross profit

National airline TAROM posted 53.56 million lei /some 12.6 million euros/ in 2010 gross profit, according to the company’s budget. According to the draft decision on the budgets of the companies subordinated to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, TAROM recorded total revenues of 1.65 billion lei /some 388 million euros/ in 2010, while total expenditures amounted to 1.59 billion lei /some 374 million euro/.

In 2009, the airline recorded losses in excess of 45 million lei. The investments in 2010 reached 65 million lei and the staff-related expenditures amounted to 149.06 million lei, with the the monthly average salary per employee having stood at 4,723 lei. TAROM, operating under the authority of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, posted 2009 turnover of 191.4 million euros. It has been a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) since 1993 and the Association of European Airlines (AEA) since 2000.
