The new pollution tax, which came into force on January 1, and the raised VAT (24%) could generate around 450 million euros in revenues to the state budget, according to a ZF analysis.

Thus, considering an average tax of 400 euros for every new car registered, the car market could bring nearly 50 million euros to the state, to which another nearly 75 million euros would be added for second-hand cars, considering an average value of 500 euros of the tax.

Therefore, revenues from the pollution tax could reach 125 million euros this year, half as much as in 2007, when over 315,000 new cars were sold in Romania.
