Dumitru Costin: 30,000 state company employees to be laid off

30,000 state company employees will be laid off, the president of the National Union Block Dumitru Costin declared after a meeting with IMF representatives, Romanian news agency Mediafax reports. He says that he received promises from the delegation that the restructuring will be the main subject on the working agenda with the government.

Costin said that unions did not receive so far a clear restructuring plan for the 18 state companies but a global estimate would lead to at least 30,000 lay offs in several sectors in the upcoming period.
