The National Salt Company - Salrom SA last year achieved a profit of 38.7 million lei, up 86% over 2012, said Alina Floroian, marketing economist with the company. The turnover of Salrom reached 308.3 million lei, up 13% over 2012, she said.

"Salrom is a company with a state-held majority stake which has over 2000 employees, of which only 18% are women. But in the central management from Bucharest, the balance is perfect, as women account for half of the personnel. Salrom is a joint-stock company, owned by the state through the Ministry of the Economy (51%) and by the Proprietatea Fund (49%), being the only authorized salt producer in Romania, but not the only retailer. The company owns seven branches located in the counties of Vâlcea, Prahova, Bacău, Suceava, Harghita, Cluj and Alba.
