Romanian Post-2011 Collective Labor Contracts To Subject To Special Law

Romania's Government has decided that collective labor contracts and related documents, whose effects will be limited as of December 31, 2011, may be signed after this date for periods to be set through a special law.

Current collective labor contracts may not be renewed, but will be in effect only until the end of their validity, according to the amended Labor Code.

Romania's Government has approved only eight amendments to the Labor Code out of the 144 proposed by the ruling coalition's MPs. It will seek a confidence vote in Parliament to adopt the Code on Tuesday, March 8.
