Romanian emergency room doctors who refuse to provide care to a patient in critical condition may be fined between 2,000 and 15,000 lei (EUR480-3600), depending on the consequences, says a draft decision drawn up by the Health Ministry.
According to the act, an on-duty doctor who refuses to treat a ventilated patient in critical condition in an intensive care unit may be fined RON1500-5000.
A hospital that is unable to organize an emergency room, because of the lack of human or material resources, but still does not prepare for an emergency by having on-duty doctors, may be fined RON2000-10,000, says the act.
