Romania must resume dam construction and select viable locations included in dam construction plans drawn up before 1989, David Csaba, general manager of the National Water Administration (ANAR), told a news conference Friday.
He said the new dams should be multifunctional, so they will be used to impound waters for irrigation, to produce electricity, as well as for tourism and fish breeding.
Csaba added he asked water administrators throughout the country to present dam location propositions. He highlighted the plans drawn up before the 1989 anticommunist revolution will also be considered, to select viable sites.
