Răzvan Furtună, BCR: The price of gold will continue to rise

Răzvan Furtună, the head of the Treasury Products Sales to Retail Customers of BCR, part of the Financial Markets Division of the Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR), considers that the price of gold will continue to rise, as portfolio investments in gold are becoming attractive.

According to a report by Erste Group, gold could reach 2,000 dollars an ounce in mid-2013. The report mentions that the real interest rate was negative in 47% of the months since the beginning of 2000, which represents an optimal environment for gold. Monetary expansion and the fact that the sovereign debt problems in Europe remain unsolved will cause the price of gold to rise again.
