European Parliament: Romania and Bulgaria meet all criteria to join Schengen

The European Parliament gave a green light to Romania and Bulgaria to join Schengen, saying that the two countries met all necessary conditions to join, according to the evaluation reports, a press release of the European legislative reads, remitted to HotNews.ro. EP however demands extra measures at Bulgaria’s border with Turkey and Greece to face a possible increase in immigration, the document reads. The approval of the EP, adopted with a large majority (487 MEPs voted for, 77 against and 29 abstained) will be sent to the Interior Affairs and Justice Council that meets on Thursday in Brussels.
