Construction supplies start year with price hikes

Romania has just made it out of the crisis and the prices have already gone up on the market of construction supplies, considering the raw material costs rose and manufacturers want to preserve their margins at least at the same level as last year. The most spectacular increase was that of reinforcing steel, which became up to 40% more expensive, yet construction materials distributors say this is normal at the beginning of the year and prices will go down towards mid year. The volume of construction works dropped to six months by 10.2%, as gross series, taking into account the drops in capital repairs' works, by 18.4%, and in the maintenance and current repairs, by 12%, and as adjusted series after the number of working days and seasonality dropped by 9.4%, according to the National Institute of Statistics. read more...
