The number of tourists entering Romania was 0.7% lower in 2010 compared with a year before, while the number of tourists accommodated was down 7.1%, the National Statistical Institute, or INS, said Thursday.
Romanian tourists accounted for 77.7% of the total, while foreign tourists represented 22.3% in 2010, similar with a year earlier.
Most of foreign visitors, representing 94.7%, come from European countries, while 59.4% come from EU member states. Hungary accounts for the highest number of tourists who entered Romania, with 38.9%, followed by Bulgaria with 17.6%, Germany- 8.9% and Italy - 7.4%.
