INS: More than 1.35 million tourists in accommodation units in Romania in Q1 2013

More than 1.35 million tourists were recorded in accommodation units in Romania in the first quarter of this year, up by 8.2 percent compared with the same period last year, show provisional data recently made public by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

In quarter I 2013, the arrivals of the Romanian tourists in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation were 79.2 percent of the total arrivals, while the foreign tourists were 20.8 percent of the total arrivals, weights close to those of quarter I 2012.

As to the arrivals of foreign tourists in the establishments of tourists’ reception, the European tourists had the highest weight (82.8 percent of the total foreign tourists) and 82.5 percent of them were from countries in the European Union. In quarter I 2013, the arrivals at hotels had a weight of 74.4 percent of the total arrivals in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation.
