Some States Abuse Veto To Block Schengen Accession – Romanian President

Romanian President Traian Basescu said Thursday evening on public television that the problem is not the postponement of Romania’s and Bulgaria’s accession to the Schengen Area, but the fact that some states abuse their veto rights to block their accession.

Basescu said that, although accession criteria were met, some states cite other reasons. He said Romania and Bulgaria are faced with this situation.
