Romania's Social Democratic Party (PSD, in opposition) on Monday requested that Senate President Mircea Geoana be replaced with Titus Corlatean.
PSD president Victor Ponta said earlier that the party's leadership and senators have decided to put forward Titus Corlatean for Senate President, while incumbent Geoana would take over as head of the upper house's committee for foreign policy.
On Monday, people close to the matter told Mediafax that the party's National Bureau voted to ask Geoana to tender his resignation.
