A car was held up Tuesday morning on the Bucharest-Pitesti highway in southern Romania by three masked individuals, who took, at gunpoint, 22.7 kilos of jewels and the car keys, then drove off toward Pitesti, the Police said.
The jewels are said to be worth over EUR1 million and belong to Diamanti Veri, a Bucharest-based company owned by a Turkish citizen, according to police sources. According to preliminary information, the car was not properly equipped for the transport of valuables.
The masked robbers broke the car's windows and stole the jewelry. No one has been hurt.
