Romanian Defence Minister: Talks on multirole fighter aircraft acquisition to continue in 2013
The 2013 budget of the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) will also include the necessary amounts for the acquisition of multirole fighter aircraft, Defence Minister Mircea Dusa told a press conference on Wednesday.
“The country’s Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT) already adopted a decision to this effect, we will continue talks and, of course, depending on the results of the discussions we will have in early 2013 on the budget’s approval, we will start pinpointing those amounts in the budget of the Ministry of National Defence, so as to get the program to running,” said Mircea Dusa when asked about the phase of the negotiations with Portugal on the acquisition of multirole fighter aircraft.
With regard to the priorities of MApN, Dusa said that they refer to the commitments arising from Romania’s NATO and EU membership, as well as from the country’s partnership with the U.S.
