The presidential candidate of the Social Democrat Party – National Union for Romania’s Progress – Conservative Party (PSD-UNPR-PC), Victor Ponta, has stated Sudnay evening that the parallel count of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) shows that the Liberal Klaus Iohannis has won the elections and has added that he will not resign the position of Prime Minister as nobody requested this and believes there is no need for such a thing.

Asked if he is sure that he lost the elections, Ponta answered: “Certainty will come when the BEC [Central Electoral Bureau] announces it, but this is the result of our count and I believe that this is how is done in a civilized country. There is no need to make people go out in the street, no need for Romanians to fight each other”.

In the same context, the Prime Minister denied the information according to which he would resign from the head of the Government.
