Military helicopter crashes in central Romania; eight dead, two wounded

A helicopter has crashed on Friday near the town of Medias (north of Sibiu County, central Romania), sources in the county police say.

Vice Prime Minister Gabriel Oprea, also minister of interior and responsible for national security is heading a military prosecutors and police criminalists taskforce to the site where a military helicopter has crashed on Friday, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) announced.

Medical sources have confirmed eight people died and two are seriously wounded and being resuscitated after the crash.

According to preliminary information, a call at the emergency phone number 112 has informed around 10h50am about the crashing of a helicopter near the village of Malancrav, Sibiu County (central Romania), a release of the MAI mentioned.
