INS: Almost 858,000 foreign tourists have come to Romania in first two months 2012
The arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, which were registered at the border checkpoints, amounted to 857,000 in the first two months of 2012, down by 2.3 percent from the similar time span of 2011, according to the data supplied by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) on Monday.
Most foreign visitors came from European countries (95.5 percent) and 61.3 percent of all the foreign visitors came from European Union member states. Of these 35.8 percent came from Hungary, 21.7 percent from Bulgaria, 7.8 percent from Italy, 7.6 percent from Germany and 4.6 percent from Austria.
According to the INS data, the Romanian visitors’ departures abroad, which were registered at the border checkpoints, amounted to 1.467 million in the span of time mentioned before, down by 4.4 percent from January 1-February 28, 2011.
