Works for Romania's largest investment project, reactors 3 and 4 of Cernavodă nuclear station put at 4bn euros, are likely to start in 2012, two years later than originally scheduled.
The reasons behind this postponement are obvious, as two years after the agreement with interested investors was signed, it still is not clear what stake each group will hold in this huge project.
The tender organised by Nuclearelectrica, the representative of the state controlling 60.15% in the project company, EnergoNuclear, to attract bids for engineering, design and construction works, did not fall into line with the initially announced deadlines, either, so that these were extended by around one month, to January 17.
