Avalanche risk in Bucegi Mts., near Omu Peak

The rise in temperatures has heightened the risk of avalanche on the slopes of the Bucegi Mts. (center-south) at altitudes of over 1,800 meters, close to the Omu Peak, where there is a higher accumulation of snow. According to the head of the Busteni Mountain Rescue Team Gheorghe Cotinghiu, the avalanche occurrence risk is 2 to 3 on a scale from 1 to 5, but it could rise considerably if there are further snowfalls. As for the condition of the Prahova Valley ski slopes, they are fit for winter sports, both in Sinaia, and in Busteni and Azuga, despite rain on Sunday night. Read more on Financiarul.ro
