Avalanche risk in Bucegi Mts., near Omu Peak

The rise in temperatures has heightened the risk of avalanche on the slopes of the Bucegi Mts. (center-south) at altitudes of over 1,800 meters, close to the Omu Peak, where there is a higher accumulation of snow. According to the head of the Busteni Mountain Rescue Team Gheorghe Cotinghiu, the avalanche occurrence risk is 2 to 3 on a scale from 1 to 5, but it could rise considerably if there are further snowfalls.
