US Ambassador Mark Gitenstein: the decision of the Constitutional Court on the revision of the Constitution takes away the possibility of the citizens to decide

US Ambassador to Bucharest, H.E. Mark Gitenstein said that the decision of the Romanian Constitutional Court on the constitutionality of the proposals to modify the constitution are worrisome because it stalls the efforts to consolidate justice and fight against corruption in Romania, a press release of the Embassy reads.

According to Gitenstein, the decision takes away the decision from the citizens’ hands. Constitutional Court judges decided that there are unconstitutional elements in the project revising the Constitution.
