Traian Basescu: To me, coming back to Cotroceni is no longer the main stake

Suspended President Traian Basescu on Friday said that, to him, coming back to Cotroceni was no longer the main stake, as it was more important for the institutions to find if any frauds took place during the referendum.

“To me, coming back to Cotroceni is no longer the main stake. … For Romania’s health, for the health of democracy in Romania, it is essential that this referendum is analyzed in all its details from the legitimacy viewpoint,” Traian Basescu said, in a statement made at his campaign headquarters.

He brought harsh critics to Interim President Crin Antonescu, Premier Victor Ponta and Administration and Interior Minister Ioan Rus.
