Romania’s GDP advances 0.5 pct in Q1, 2013, according to INS first estimates

Romania’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 0.5 percentage points in real terms in Q 1, 2013 from Q 4, 2012, according to the first seasonally adjusted estimates of the National Statistics Institute ()INS) released on Wednesday.

Compared with the similar quarter of 2012, the GDP was up 2.1 per cent in unadjusted terms and 1.4 per cent in seasonally adjusted terms.

Romania’s GDP in Q4 , 2012 was up 1.1 per cent in real terms on a quarterly basis. In 2012, Romania’s economy advanced 0.7 per cent in real terms from the previous year, with the GDP estimated at RON 587.499 billion current prices, according to the provisional date released in April by the INS.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is expecting Romania’s economy to grow by 1.6 per cent in 2013, as mentioned in its half-yearly World Economic Outlook released in mid-April. Romania’s National Economic Projections Board has downwardly adjusted its estimated 2013 GDP growth from 2 per cent to 1.6 per cent.
