Romanian TV Stations Violating Personality Rights Fined RON60,000-200,000 - Bill

Romanian TV and radio stations breaching legislation on "personality rights," "protection of dignity" or "presumption of innocence" may get fined between 60,000 and 200,000 lei (EUR1=RON4.2490), according to a bill amending the Law on audiovisual broadcasting. The bill, put forward by democrat liberal deputies Raluca Turcan, Cezar Preda, Doinita Chircu and Brindusa Novac, makes significant changes to the fines the National Audiovisual Council (CAN) may give to radio and TV stations.
