Romanian Govt, Unions Reached No Compromise On Labor Code – Union Leader

Talks between the Romanian Government and labor unions on the Labor Code have failed, because of the labor minister's inflexibility and the Executive's attempt at manipulation, union leader Bogdan Hossu said Friday, adding that protests will continue.

Hossu, president of union confederation "Cartel Alfa," said many of the 107 proposed amendments to the Labor Code change the relationship between employer and employee, and between social partners. The unions also oppose the Government's plan to adopt the Code through a vote of confidence, rather than the standard parliamentary procedure.
