Romanian Cable TV Providers Not Required To Carry Private Stations - Bill

Romanian cable TV providers will no longer be obliged to carry private TV stations, according to a bill amending the Law on audiovisual broadcasting, put forward by a number of democrat liberal MPs. Article 82 of the current Law concerns the "must-carry" principle, which requires cable providers to broadcast every station run by the public television company (SRTv), the stations which are the subject of international agreements (TV5) and other free stations, according to their yearly ratings. It also says cable operators must provide local and regional stations, where they exist. Read more on Mediafax.ro
